Custom Orthotics in Winnipeg

Bright athletic shoesYour feet are the foundation for the rest of your body, and if your feet aren’t functioning as they’re supposed to, the result can be pain and dysfunction in the knees, hips or spine. At n8 Chiropractic & Massage Therapy, our full-body approach to care includes focusing on this important foundation with chiropractic care and, when needed, custom orthotics.

What Are They?

Custom orthotics are inserts that go into your shoes to create a more stable, balanced foundation and gait. We conduct a full static evaluation and gait analysis that records how your foot moves through every position of your gait.

Then we’ll send this data to the company to custom-fabricate your unique insoles. It typically takes about two weeks to get your orthotics.

Who Needs Them?

Our n8 Chiropractic & Massage Therapy goal is to help our practice members optimize their function, movement and health without the aid of assistive devices whenever possible. Everyone in our practice receives a static foot evaluation, posture analysis and pelvic weight-bearing assessment, among other examinations. If we determine that your feet aren’t functioning optimally, we’ll incorporate extremity adjustments and other care to help restore optimal function.

However, in some cases, custom orthotics are the only solution, and when that’s the case, we will explain exactly what they are and how we think they’ll help in your individual situation. Dr. Darrin has worn custom orthotics for over 25 years.

Adjusting to Them

Some people adjust to their new gait quickly, while others take a bit more time. We’ll guide you through the process and ensure that you know what to expect. Generally, we recommend wearing them a couple of hours a day and gradually increasing the time as you feel more comfortable. Of course, we’ll want you to keep your normal chiropractic appointments so we can help your spine and joints stay properly aligned as your body adjusts.
